This site is the personal site of Frederick Aya ("I", "me", "my") at fredaya.com. This page explains what I collect when you use the contact forms or the chat, why, and which services process it.
What I collect
I only collect what you choose to send me. That happens when you:
- Request a case study (your email, which case, and an optional note)
- Request my resume (your email, your reason, and whether you tick the box saying it is OK to email you back)
- Start the chat (your email and a reason, so I can follow up if the conversation calls for it)
- Submit the case-study contact form on the work page (name, email, company, role, purpose, timeline)
My server also records the IP address of form and chat submissions for basic abuse prevention and rate limiting. I do not run a newsletter, and the email you give the chat is used only to follow up.
How I use it
- Reply to you and send what you asked for
- Follow up about a possible role or project where you have said that is welcome
- Keep the forms and chat from being abused
I do not buy, sell, or rent your information.
Services that process your data
- Vercel hosts the site and may log basic request data (IP address, user agent, timestamp) for security and operations.
- Google (Gemini API) powers the chat. The messages you type in the chat are sent to Google to generate a reply. Your email is not sent to Google; it is stored on my side only.
- Formspree processes the case-study contact form on the work page and forwards it to my inbox.
- A notification webhook (Slack-compatible) alerts me to a new request so I see it quickly. It carries the same fields you submitted.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy that governs how it handles your information once it reaches them.
Cookies and local storage
I do not run analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party pixels. On your own device the site stores small, non-tracking values: your light or dark theme choice, and, if you use the chat, your email and reason so you do not have to re-enter them. A short-lived session id is kept for the duration of a chat. Pages that are password-gated set one essential, http-only cookie so the gate works. None of these are used for tracking.
How long I keep it
Requests and chat leads are kept only as long as needed to follow up, and no longer than 24 months, after which they are deleted unless we are in an active conversation.
Your rights
- Ask what personal data I hold about you
- Ask me to correct it
- Ask me to delete it
- Tell me to stop contacting you at any time
For any of these, email fred@fredaya.com.
