A test run for AI integration

A plan for testing AI within an existing tool or process, with clear checks to decide whether the integration is useful enough to keep.

Paper-craft Fred compares a small AI test on a laptop with an existing workflow and sample documents at his desk.

The purpose

A team wants to try AI in its existing setup. It needs to understand where AI fits, how to test it, and whether the result improves the current process.

How it works

  1. Existing process

Map the current tools and choose one task to test.

  2. Limited AI test

Plan how AI fits into that task and what a useful result looks like.

  3. Compare results

Check the output and review effort against the current approach.

  4. Make the decision

Stop, refine the test, or decide what to adopt.

My part

I designed the test stages, the checks for each result, and the conditions for stopping.

In practice

Teams decide in advance when to stop, so an unsuccessful trial does not keep consuming time and money.
